NIA focuses on stroke development and endurance skills for those children who have basic swimming skills.
Team swimming.
Being on a team is a great way to make friends. Our team has swimmers ranging from the ability to swim to 18 years old. Our summer team begins in late May and ends in July. Our coaches volunteer their time and knowledge of the sport.
High school Swimming.
Did you know that the highschools in New Iberia have swimteams? High school season starts in August and ends sometime in November. Catholic High School has had a state qualifying team for the last few years. New Iberia Senior High and Westgate High School have sent graduates to swim in college. Randy Latiolais and Bryce Davidson were greatly influenced to continue their swimming carrer through joining their college teams.
Middle school swimming.
You don't have to be in high school to able to swim for your school. The middle school league is a group from grades 5-8. All middle schools are eligible to participate. To find out how to get a team at your school contact your principal. You may also contact the other middle school coaches to find out more. The middle school league starts in early spring.
Donations
Our team purchases and supplies equipment for swimmers and the city park pool. We also rent the pool on a weekly basis.
